About Us.

West End Village

The West End Village is the area immediately to the west of Princes Street. The Village is defined by the landmark buildings of the Caledonian Hotel and the House of Fraser department store, and by the network of vibrant Georgian streets that run throughout the area, supporting a fascinating array of independent boutiques, award-winning retailers, buzzing bars and contemporary restaurants.

West End Association

The West End Association was formed in 2005, replacing an earlier William Street Association. We are a representative body for all businesses in the area that wish to see a busy, vibrant and successful West End. We work hard to ensure this happens by liaising with other business groups, retailers and private sector organisations, and engaging with Edinburgh City Council and other public sector bodies to attract business and investment to the area.

Recent achievements include the appointment of a dedicated business co-ordinator to work on behalf of the West End, securing improvements to public realm, inclusion in Council strategy documents for planning, transport and public realm works, close co-operation with TIE Ltd on mitigating the effects of the tram works, planning traffic access and pedestrian routes in the area, and working with landlords to improve the retail and hospitality offer in the area.

Joining the West End Association

We warmly welcome new members to our Association. Our membership ranges from sole traders in the business-to-business sector, boutiques, bars and restaurants, through to major High Street retailers, five star hotels and major Edinburgh professional services providers.  We are currently planning the final stages of our Christmas marketing strategy for the area, and looking forward to expanding our membership and our ambitions for the area in 2010.

Membership of the Association is paid by annual subscription. Membership rates for 2009/10 expire in March 2010 and are currently available at a special half-price offer of £25 for businesses with fewer than ten employees, and £50 for businesses with more than ten employees. Benefits of membership include an exclusive free listing page on this website, preferential rates for joint marketing initiatives, access to our information and news forum for the West End and Edinburgh and an opportunity to make your voice heard locally and in the city.

If you simply wish to join our business mailing list to keep up to date with events and activities in the area, please click [EMAIL].
